Retail Manager
An opportunity to join our award winning garden retail business in the heart of Lytham, Lancashire.
Greg Anderton’s multi-award winning business helps people realise their dream of a beautiful garden. With our small team, we operate the award winning garden centre at Lytham Hall, compete at national flower shows (including RHS) and offer a range of creative services to customers within their gardens.
The company has a vacancy for a motivated and hardworking team player to join us in our mission to make our retail operations the very best in the industry. Vital qualities for a successful candidate will include an appreciation for the importance of high standardsacross customer service and plant care. It is a role for someone who likes being hands on and creative and can embrace challenges with a positive can do attitude.
Example duties of this role include:
●Managing the stock from planning and ordering to creating the displays on the shop floor.
●Ensuring that our plants are consistently in the best of health.
●Formulate promotions and distinctive displays to maximise sales and minimise wastage.
●On a daily basis, oversee the work and professional development of your colleagues.
●Ensure in particular that we are always compliant with our legal responsibilities in respect of health and safety and the adherence to company policies such as those around cash handling and GDPR.
●Help customers resolve their queries and resolve complaints with urgency.
In addition to overseeing the day to day garden centre operation, you will be responsible for the retail aspects of the shows scene. Periodically working away from home, you’ll play a key role in the stock ordering and planning as well as being one of the crew who build, trade and breakdown our award winning displays.
You would be joining a small and seasonal business. As such, you will need to be adaptable, flexible and willing to turn your hand to whatever is required to join us in our mission of making this company successful. Like the rest of the team, you would need to be adaptable to the seasonal fluctuations of the business.
The company has plans for expansion in the short to medium term. As such, this is an ideal position for someone wanting to develop in the industry and the company will be invested in your professional development.
This is a full-time position working 5 days a week, generally working alternate weekends. The position offers a uniform, free parking, and discounts on products. We require at least 2 years existing experience working within the garden centre trade at supervisor or management level. The role is physically demanding by nature. A full clean driving licence is essential.
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 dependant on experience.
